Hazy Shade Of Winter

These hibernation temperatures got us thinking back to a winter spent in Moscow  – yup, lived there on purpose and all the vodka caviar we consumed.

Got some ideas for a new menu addition. Which means we’re taking off your training wheels folks. So be on the lookout for some casual caviar coming your way.

Crazy Town

Shuckin’ a few of our wild jumbo Blue Points last night and found this guy in one of them! Stopped the entire back-of-house staff dead in their tracks. #NoSmallFeat

So this little guy thought he was being all smart, swam on in, ate the oyster and then became too big to leave so he just sat in his new apartment hanging out until harvest time. Of course it’s a boy fish, a girl fish totally knows better.

In Between Days

Yup pretty brutal walking the beast this morning. While he didn’t seem to mind the beyond brisk temperature, we (wife) sure did.

Our fettuccine with clams is the perfect stick-to-your-ribs kinda meal for cold weather days.

hey thanks for the pix: yijiagu.com

It’s only January folks, too soon to start hibernating for the winter so throw on the layers and trek over. We recommend elastic waist pants.

Hungry Eyes

A favorite photo from our foursquare page. Cracks us up every time.

And now back to shoveling the sidewalk.

Kraftwerk

This week someone posted a yelp review about us. In German. So while we don’t speak a lick of German…Google Translate does. Sorta.

Listening to the audio translation was awesome. It’s a total robot voice devoid of any emotion or inflection. We kept playing it over and over. And while we appreciate that they had many nice things to say, Google Translate has become our new favorite game.

This week’s Grub Street Diet features an alcoholic 12 year old boy actor Andrew Rannells.

I met some friends at one of my favorite East Village restaurants, Upstate. We had amazing oysters and a kick-ass cheese plate. And of course, a lot of beer. I really like the Radiant Pig IPA for its taste and its reference to Charlotte’s Web.

Appreciate the props Andrew! Be sure to read the rest of his ramblings as the dude sure can eat. And watch the season premier of Girls this Sunday.

This family run farm adheres to sustainable practices and if that weren’t enough, they also commit 1% of sales to restoring New York Harbor. #GoodDeed

Not to worry, while waiting for the babies to grow they are sending us 200 of their signature oysters for a Thursday delivery. Yum!

Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow

It’s crazy slippery outside this morning – sidewalks are a sheet of ice, so be careful! Know what else is crazy? That our Christmas tree is still sitting in the apartment.

Stripped down since the morning of January 1. And yet someone (husband) continues to ignore it walk by it. Well two can play at that game. Any bets on how much longer it stays?
