It’s Not Easy Being Green

Every inch is critical to us apartment dwellers making multi-purpose furniture a must. That includes stashing recyclables. Got this guy from good ole IKEA.

Is it a stool? Is it storage? Is it cute? Indeed all three!

8 step instructions seemed a bit overkill

supervising the process

bummer there’s not a couple more chicks on the list

And now we can hide all our empties safely store recyclables.

Crack Is Wack

Cake for breakfast this gray, rainy Monday. Not just any cake, The Best Coconut Cake from Commerce. Not sure what crack tastes like but pretty sure it’s this.

Newlyweds Sue & Carsten dropped this off last night accompanied by a great missive. And a quick shout-out to Carsten’s mom!

Rainbow Connection

Didn’t realize our summer was going to be so London-eque. Or should we say realise? At least we’ve got cheery wine to fight off this schizophrenic weather.

NY wines are no longer picked last in gym class

NY is earning its place within the world of wine and while we might not have the California cache or Portland panache we proudly hold our own – especially when it comes to Riesling & Rosé.

We’ve got a couple of North Fork favorites we’re serving:

  • Bouke rosé is truly a manly rosé light red wine. So take that Beaujolais.
  • SUHRU Dry Riesling is pure proof of how misunderstood this grape is – a sticky, sweet wine this aint! It’s officially our (wife) summer time favorite.

Power Couple

Been pushing it on you folks since day one, the ultimate white wine pairing perfectly with everything, to have when stranded on that desert island and drink forever… Muscadet. The gig is up, even Food & Wine is now in on the act.

oysters + muscadet = world peace

Eric Chevalier makes his name through sustainable practices and the popularity of his lemony and crystalline Muscadet – just so happens to also be on our wine list.

upstate craft beer & oyster bar

won’t find this VA oyster anywhere else in nyc

And wee early this morning we picked up these Saxis Island oysters that were shipped to the market just for us. #happyhour

Bob’s Your Uncle

Got Kiwi oysters this evening. From Coromandel, on the North Island of New Zealand. We love that country, so pretty, so mountain-y and so much lamb, yum!

hey thanks for the pix:

hey thanks for the pix: the coromandel

Harvested in a two-year growth period, they have the usual off white flesh of a pacific oyster with a strong sweet and salty flavor with a watermelon-like aftertaste.

Nothing Compares 2 U

People always want to know the secret ingredients used to make our great tasting seafood. Fresh, quality fish doesn’t require much… sprinkle or two of this guy.

Pretty much everything tastes better with a dash of OBS: popcorn, deviled eggs, soup stock, salad dressing, bloody mary, french fries, chicken wings, corn on the cob, avocado slices, tuna sandwich – you get the gist, right? #oldschool.

Waiting on deliveries this morning, enjoying our coffee this sunny and dry morning. No OBS in the coffee, that is probably the one place it would not be good.

Afternoon Delight

As if there is anything else we would prefer to have for lunch today.

Can you believe this entire box was only $1.00? Not even the dollar store down the street from us sells stuff that is actually only $1.00. Blue is the best flavor.
