Girls Rule

How sweet…a dad hacked the !983 Donkey Kong ROM for his daughter. Told you we (wife) are a little bit of techno-geeks. Just a little. And really good at Centipede.

Game designer Mike Mika updated his Donkey Kong game so his 3-year-old daughter could to play as the female character Pauline instead of as Mario.

And speaking of super heroes, waiting on beer deliveries this morning so an updated draught list is on its way.

Big Gulp

Not talking about Bloomberg’s bust of a ban. We’re talking sharks! Found these guys in the belly of a giant squid we were cleaning. Catch of the day. Literally.

“Hmm, I knew we should’ve taken that left turn at Albuquerque”

Don’t tell PETA…

Yesterday’s snafu has been snuffed and we’re back in business today folks.

See you upstate!

Snafu

We will be closed tonight.

Late last night the compressor broke…not to worry, we’ve got men at work. But unfortunately that means we will closed all of today for repairs.

We’ll be back in business tomorrow, Tuesday.

Thick Rain

Seriously people, get a grip…it’s hardly snowing outside. In fact some of us (husband) call this weather thick rain.

We schlepped through the storm this morning to ensure deliveries were received and baked you a few whiskey cakes while waiting.

The secret technique that keeps the cake moist? Mummifying in aluminum foil. #Fancy.

We’ve also got an updated draught list for tonight. So what are you waiting for? We open @5pm.

See you upstate!

Lobsters Are Not Monogamous

The male lobster pretty much gets it on with any female lobster. Occasionally the ladies will even line up outside the bachelor pad and wait turns for some lobster lovin.

Tonight we’re serving promiscuous lobsters fresh from Vinalhaven, Maine. A tiny, bridgeless island that is the lobster mecca. Only two ways to get there: water ferry or puddle jumper.

Turning Japanese

We’ve got Shigoku oysters in the house. Shigoku means ultimate in Japanese. Salty, mildly sweet with a long fruity finish from Washington state.

Raised in a round floating basket that is constantly turned end over end by the motion of the ocean wave and tidal action…the result which takes almost two years, is a very round, smooth hard shell with a deep cup.

Contrary to popular belief, The Vapors big 80’s hit Turning Japanese is actually a love song. So get your mind out of the gutter.

For The Love Of Upstate

Morning coffee tastes even better when notes like this one are waiting in our inbox.

………………………………………………………………………………………….

Hi Upstate!

I wanted to say thanks for the AMAZING experience we had at your restaurant last night. I’m a big oyster fan and went to school in upstate NY so when I heard about your happy hour/beer selection I was super excited.

The oysters, beer, service and food were beyond expectations and we had a really fantastic time. The whiskey cake and dark beer at the end really pushed things over the top – a wonderful evening!

THANKS AGAIN & we’ll be back soon!
Maggie

………………………………………………………………………………………….

Well new friend Maggie, we thank you for your thank you! Glad you guys enjoyed.
