Thank You Easter Bunny Bok Bok

BuckShowalter and the rest of us from upstate craft beer & oyster bar want to wish everyone a happy Passover and Easter.
BuckShowalter
The shop is closed for the day, as the staff is in need of a well-deserved extra day to spend with family and rest up. We’re off to Queens to have dinner at Cousin Victor‘s place. Bringing whiskey cake, of course and champers.Channing Daughters
Whether you are hosting a festive meal or a lucky guest attending one this week, may we suggest serving rose…a springtime favorite that pairs well with lamb, ham and seafood. New York vintner Channing Daughter’s Cabernet Franc Rose is a medium-body, mineral driven with hints of floral notes rose that is less than $20 bottle. True story.

See you upstate!
(just not today, we’re closed – remember?)

The Heat Is On

Blew a transformer ten minutes before service on Friday. Leaving us with no heat in the place. Perfect way to start the weekend rush. And then this happened…BTW Home Depot on 23rd street only carries transformers for doorbells because well, um yeah. Makes zero sense to us too. Thankfully we found the right type of transformer Saturday morning. March may be almost over but it’s still cold out. PS: The Heat Is On hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in March 1985, REO Speedwagon’s Can’t Fight This Feeling was #1. We (wife) sang REO Speedwagon during eight grade graduation. Totally appropriate for a bunch of 13 year olds.

Wang Is Wong, Hwang Is Wong, Huang Is Wong

The Yankees announced Chien-Ming Wang is back! Well, signed to a minor league deal worth $3 million if he makes it to the majors. Good plan Brian Cashman.

Hey thanks for the pix: nj.com

The right-hander won 55 games for New York from 2005-09. Prior to his long running list of injuries: foot, hip and shoulder Wang tied for the team lead in starts (33) and the league lead in wins (19) for a team that won 97 games in ’06. The next year went 19-7 with a 3.70 ERA. #hardcore

Maine Event

Not the 1979 box office success that was critically panned. Nope, we’re talking Jonesport, Maine. Where magical mussels come from. Yum.

Moosabec Mussels is a family-owned company that has been in the shellfish business since 1975. They provide superior product through sustainable practices, so we like them twice as much.

And we’re down to the last two cans of the Genesee seasonal release Bock Beer. Genny is the staff beer and what underage drinking memories are made of. We kick it old school.

Bully Time

All these random storms are cutting into BuckShowalter’s park time. Making us resort to a few of our winter entertainment tricks. Like afternoon bullystick time.

And it smells even worse than it sounds.

Freaky Weather

Had dinner last night at Wong. Our intent was two-fold:
A. proximity, as it was a quick slushy walk from our apartment
B. jealousy, because we lost out on that killer space to them

Love that the open kitchen has a bar top for folks to dine and enjoy the view.

So while we didn’t instagram our meal, we’ll leave that for the Immaculate Infatuation fellas we did enjoy the shrimp fritters, baked oysters, porkchop special, lobster egg foo young, sticky rice, crispy cauliflower and green tea creme brûlée.

Gross weather aside, was a pretty good Monday night for us.
