Inflight Review Part Deux

The beast is back from his upstate vacation, which means so are we. After an 8 hour flight and lots of movie watching. Bon jour!

Magic Mike
WIFE: An opening scene with butt and boob shots seems promising but alas this movie was full-on cheese
HUSBAND: I will never watch this movie. Ever.

The Five-Year Engagement
WIFE: Thought this was going to be the super cheesy movie of the lot but actually had a few laugh out loud scenes, in which I did just that
HUSBAND: I watched the opening scene and then turned it off before the opening credits started

CSI technically not a movie but we both ended up watching a couple of episodes
WIFE: I fell asleep halfway through the episode
HUSBAND: Solved it within the first 20 minutes but prefer William Petersen episodes over Laurence Fishburne ones

We are closed NYE for a private party and giving the staff a well deserved day off tomorrow, New Year’s Day but we will be open on Wednesday @5pm sharp. Happy New Year!

See you upstate!

Time Warp

It’s not just the culture, fine foods & wines and the fashion that we appreciate here in Paris. We also greatly enjoy all the American movies that air late night on TV.

Got to see the fine acting of American daredevil Evel Knievel in Viva Knievel. So highbrow or très intelligent as we like to say.

See you upstate!

Inflight Reviews

Still in Paris but thought to share a synopsis or two of the movies we watched on our flight.

First up is Ted
HUSBAND: Boston accents are always funny so while the storyline was a little soft, lots of good one liners
WIFE: a bear that does a Boston accent and bong hits never gets old but fell asleep before the end

The Dark Knight Rises
HUSBAND: epic set but too many many story lines not only diluted the plot but made it slow moving and Anne Hathaway was not necessary
WIFE: was asleep on the plane but having recently watched it at home am in agreement

Men In Black III
HUSBAND: typical big block buster with bland overall mass appeal
WIFE: was asleep on the plane but can proudly state that I have never seen any of the Men In Black movies, same goes for Titanic too

The Borne Legacy
HUSBAND: was the best of all the movies I watched although we landed before the ending
WIFE: was asleep on the plane but think Jeremy Renner is kinda hot, short but hot

So while we are eating oysters every night in Paris, the shop is open tomorrow, Wednesday folks.

See you upstate!

Packing For Paris

That’s right, we are spending the holiday in Paris.

HUSBAND: You have to bring at least one pair of practical shoes this time
WIFE: Of course, am bringing three pairs

Technically a flat heel, hence technically practical

Glitter booties, always practical

This pair, not so much but still coming with us

Hey, as Meatloaf so eloquently sang, Two out of three ain’t bad

See you upstate!
(just remember we are closed 12.24 & 12.25)

Lunch & Punch

A little Holiday Luncheon with friends at home. Sharing the post-cracker opening with you all. Crowns and prizes, what’s not to love?

No lunch & punch would be complete without a key ingredient: champagne. We went the sparkling wine route with an excellent find: Gruet Brut Rose NV. From New Mexico no less!
Well actually they’re a family of French wine makers since 1952. And in 1984 the kids opened their US winery. They produce wines following the strict guidelines of a true Methode Champenoise. Which means it’s super good and super inexpensive.

And of course being added onto our menu in the new year.

See you upstate!
(Just remember, we’ll be closed 12.24 & 12.25)

End Of The World As We Know It

So far so good, as we are all still here. No sign of flames just yet. Guess that means we will be open tonight.

Hey thanks beprepared2012.com for the pix (such a friendly URL)

But in all seriousness, there is something you all do need to know: New Ian is off the market. Sorry ladies. Hey you had your chance to Win A Date With Ian.

Nika was crazy enough won our contest. Fast forward and now it’s super serious. Know how we know? We met her mom, so did Ian.

Folks have been asking about the holidays, yes we will be closed both Christmas Eve 12.24 and Christmas Day 12.25. Oh and no dice for New Year’s Eve, we will be closed for a private party.

See you upstate!

Class Act

Nope, not talking about us. We’re referring to the living legend Leonard Cohen. Saw him last night at Madison Square Garden and he was uh-may-zing!

“I don’t know when we’ll meet again, but I promise that tonight we’ll give you everything we’ve got.” And he delivered on that declaration – for three hours!

Jealous? Should be. If It Be Your Will, before Going Home, Everybody Knows our Pandora station is none other than Leonard Cohen-centic for the night, Hallelujah!

See you upstate!

HUSBAND: Sure, will do
